MTV's grounding breaking 16 and Pregnant series brings us hour-long documentary episodes focusing on the controversial subject of teen pregnancy. Each episode follows a 5-7 month period in the life of a teenager as she navigates the bumpy terrain of high school, rebellion, love and heartache; all while simultaneously facing teenage motherhood.

Since 2009 the National Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy has served as an advisor to the series, which includes providing educational materials related to the episodes on MTV’s website. Since the series has been on the air, teen birth rates in the U.S. have dropped 36 percent. Experts have credited the shows with helping to drive that decline.
